to the Happy Hermit
This
ride is about 48 miles and is considered an easy ride. The
ride
starts at the Bunco Road Parking Lot. From CDA, go north on
highway 95. At Sliverwood Theme Park, turn right on Bunco
Road.
Go approximately 2 miles and turn left, follow the sign, this
is
still Bunco Road. Go about 3 miles, there is a large OHV
parking
lot on the right side, at the end of the pavement.Following the mapped route, you'll exit the parking lot and turn right. You'll take the first left, around the gate, onto an easy trail. Follow the map, you'll soon be following what is known as the "Powerline Road", it will be obvious why. You'll go by Bernard Overlook, this is a great place to stop for a break and for pictures, the view is spectacular.
From there, proceed to the Happy Hermit Resort. They have a great food and beverage selection. Leaving the Hermit, turn left, the route takes you to Lakeview, cross along the road that runs by the lake, and turn right heading up the hill past some cabins. This is a nice streatch of trail, and will take you back to FSR-278.
Turning right on the 278, you'll go back past the Happy Hermit. Turn left on FSR-1078, it's also known as the Siver Leaf Mine trail. It's to the left side of the mine you see from the 278. This streatch of trail is fun, it wanders up to FSR-332, also known as the "High Drive" or "The Bunco". Turn right on this road. The route on the GPS track and maps takes you on another short stretch of trail, the 2707A. Alternatively, you can take the 332 all the way back to the parking area.
